The Amazing Stages of a Butterfly: Part I

The butterfly develops through a process called metamorphosis. This is a Greek word that means transformation or change in shape.
There are four stages in the metamorphosis of butterflies: egg, larva, pupa, and adult.

Eggs are laid on plants by the adult female butterfly. These plants will then become the food for the hatching caterpillars (larva). Butterfly eggs can be very small (Ref: https://ansp.org/exhibits/online-exhibits/butterflies/lifecycle/).

In contrast, this phase represents the foundation, humble and vulnerable beginnings of what would later transform into some-thing as beautiful as a butterfly.
