Felix is a poor little mouse living in the country but with winter on its way realises that he has no food left, so he decides to start a new life in London. On his long journey down to London, he finds a different place to shelter each night, from a leaky flowerpot to an old boot and meets many characters who show him kindness. Once he arrives in London, he finds food and shelter for the night in exchange for helping a Raven Master at The Tower of London, a fishmonger in the market and a milkmaid in Covent Garden, all of whom are having trouble with some pesky cats. On Christmas Eve, as Felix moves on, he is caught in a snowstorm but manages to find shelter inside a doll's house in a toy shop down Regents Street. The following day when Felix wakes up, little does he know what a surprise he is in for when the doll's house is given as a gift to a little girl for Christmas. However, this is not just any little girl, but the Princess at Buckingham Palace, who has a pet mouse called Wilomena. It is love at first sight for both Felix and Wilomena, and Felix realises that he has found his fortune, recognising that it is not all about money but the wealth that love, happiness, and kindness bring.
