When the Bakarians rose up in rebellion against the Confederation after discovering an act of genocide against a free world, the threat was perceived as a minor one, one that could be dealt with swiftly and decisively. Unfortunately, the Rebellion keeps gaining the upper hand in the conflict, and so the future and very existence of the Confederation is now at stake. Confed’s main problem is that they do not know how the Rebellion keeps one step ahead of them, nor do the leaders know how to tip the balance in their favour. A small group of officers, however, have set in motion a plan that could gain them ultimate victory or utter defeat. Everything hinges on the actions of two men.
Dave Jackson and Michael Allen are two of the best fighter pilots in the Confederation. Both are hiding a secret that is directly affecting the war against the Rebellion, and living a lie, behaving in a way that is contrary to their beliefs and loyalty. Dave acts in an arrogant, rebellious, and insubordinate manner, a means to fulfilling his duty, his secret. Michael acts the loyal citizen, aiming to succeed, gain promotion and a good reputation in the Confederation Military. Dave is suffering psychological stress far more than his friend for two reasons: He knows his friend’s secret, which is tearing him apart; His ‘acting’ is preventing him from being who he really needs to be.
Will Dave buckle under the pressure or fulfil what is expected of him when his loyalty is put to the ultimate test?
